Flapper films and headbands

I watched the adorable Gloria Swanson silent film Why Change You Wife? (1920) on NetFlix last weekend. It follows a husband and wife who learn to appreciate each other after some time apart (with other lovers), and though it came out a wee bit before the full-on flapper rage, the decadent costumes and sets foreshadow the upcoming trends. The film also shows quite the cat-fight, though I prefer its fashion. It inspired me to pick up this headband from Urban Outfitters.

I personally love how fancy this is.

i totally LOVE the head adornments women used to wear back then! that headband looks great on you, shall we call you Fancy Francy now? :D

i'll have to try and catch that film one of these days!

sorry i didnt comment on your review of pandora;s Box, way behind on blogs but to me that;s one of the great silent era masterpieces and Louise is just mesmerizing! you now need to see her follow up with Pabst: Diary of a Lost Girl, which i actually prefer of the 2. hope you're having a great year so far :D

I love it! I have to say, every time you use headbands in a flapper fashion I think "I should do that because it looks so cute!" You really pull the look off. I'm not really sure if I do, quite. My style lends more to the headbands that tie to the side - like in Singin' in the Rain. In other news, I've never seen Gloria Swanson. I may just have to check her out.

I shall have to find some 20s Gloria Swanson films to watch; I seem to have missed her early flapper years.

Congratulations, by the way, I've given you a blog award!
